John Greene | DLR I | Digital Contemporary Art

DLR I is an atmospheric digital painting by John Greene that shares the horizontal, blurred-streak approach of its companion piece DLR, but with a noticeably darker and moodier palette. Deep navy and dark teal sit at the top, giving way to vivid magenta and hot pink through the middle, then rich greens and warm burgundy tones lower down, with flashes of cyan at the base.

The overall feel is more nocturnal than DLR — richer and more intense, with the colours feeling almost luminous against the darker tones. The soft, blurred texture keeps it feeling fluid rather than heavy. The two pieces work well together as a pair, but DLR I holds its own perfectly well solo — a good choice for a space that wants colour and atmosphere with a darker edge.
